Talking about branding is all over the map when you google it. It can be confusing, overwhelming, stressful. But it doesn’t need to be.

Branding is so much more than your logo and your colors. Yes you do need to pick those, but at the end of the day no one has ever purchased anything from me because they love my logo and website colors….and I have been an entrepreneur since I was 18.

Now don’t get me wrong, you need a professional looking logo and well put together colors but that’s really used to make it pretty.

So what am I referring to when I talk brand?

I am talking about your customer experience. Also referred to as your “brand experience”.

How do people feel when they work with you or use your products or services?

In other words, what is the consistent experience that people have dealing with you and your business that you have carefully curated – this is your branding.

It’s important. If people come to you and have a fabulous experience that they rave about once and they return and it is terrible. You will lose that client and all of their friends and people they influence.

However if it’s amazing again and again, they will become raving fans and your business through referrals can go through the roof increasing your branding out there in the world. This creates referrals, testimonials and more for you.

Having a consistent client experience turns your skeptics into raving, referring fans.

They love how you make them feel and they want their people to have the EXACT SAME experience.

One of the things I say repeatedly to those work with me is “what we do for one client, we do for them all”. That is my brand promise. It is the branding piece that builds trust that you will always have this experience.

Once, only once, we changed our lemon water to lime water and people got mad…they sent in emails…#truestory!

That’s because we deviated from our brand experience. That’s how important this is.

Your brand experience enables you to get hyper clear on what you are the expert in.

You don’t have to offer everything to everyone at any time. By curating your brand experience, it allows you to step in and be you authentically in business and the impactful experience you are offering to your ideal 5 star client.

This also plays into what you are taking a stand for. Are you taking a stand for kids having healthy school lunches every day?  Then use your expertise to make it happen!

Part of your brand and the most important part about it, creating it, implementing it’s being really clear on what you will not tolerate in your clients.

Now that might sound negative, and it’s not.

Not every brand serves every type of person. The brand for Porsche has very different tolerance levels than Ford. Holt Renfrew has very different tolerance levels than Walmart.

What are you not willing to tolerate in your clients is a very important question to answer because it will determine the type of brand experience you design for your ideal clients in mind.

For example, I will not tolerate lying, doing illegal activities, being late to our coaching calls, etc.

So these are all very important aspects and yes there are a few more that I cover off when I start coaching with someone. However these are three I really recommend you dig into when you get going.

When I say get going, that doesn’t mean that this is just for start-ups. You can be in business for quite a few years and still need to do this work to up-level.

One factor in building trust with your clients is that they know what to expect, which makes them feel safe, which makes them open up for the transformation and impact you are providing them.

So my question to you is –  what consistent experience, feelings and possibilities do you want your ideal 5 start client to have when they experience your brand?
