Pre-selling programs is a total buzz kill.
Many gurus advocate for pre-selling your programs before you even build them, but I’m here to offer a different perspective. I strongly advise against following this technique, as it can kill your motivation and create unnecessary stress.
Why put yourself in a pressure cooker when there’s no need to do so?
In this video, I will discuss the three negative consequences of pre-selling that you definitely want to avoid, especially if you’re trying to maintain excitement and motivation while building your signature program. Trust me, it’s crucial for your sanity to steer clear of this approach.
- Lack of clarity and direction: Pre-selling without a fully developed program can lead to confusion and uncertainty. By committing to delivering a product that doesn’t exist yet, you may find yourself struggling to outline the content, structure, and value of your offering. This lack of clarity can hamper your motivation and hinder the quality of the program you eventually deliver.
- Unrealistic expectations: Pre-selling creates pressure to meet deadlines and deliver on promises made to your customers. This can be incredibly stressful, especially if you encounter unexpected hurdles during the development process. Failing to meet expectations can damage your reputation and erode the trust you’ve built with your audience.
- Incomplete customer experience: By pre-selling an unfinished program, you risk providing an incomplete or subpar customer experience. This can result in disappointed customers who may feel cheated or dissatisfied. It’s crucial to deliver a polished and valuable program that meets or exceeds your customers’ expectations to maintain their trust and loyalty.
Rather than jumping into pre-selling, I recommend focusing on developing a comprehensive and high-quality program before promoting and selling it.
Take the time to create a well-structured curriculum, engaging content, and valuable resources.
This approach allows you to maintain your enthusiasm, provide a superior customer experience, and build a solid foundation for your program’s success.
